Wits and Wagers Family Edition takes the same basic principles from its popular older brother and streamlines them for a simpler, more compact experience fit for kids and families. In this version, the betting mechanic has been drastically reduced; rather than waging chips on several different answers, players use two small meeples to place their bets.

At the start of a round, one person will pull a card from the tray. Each card has two questions on the front side and two answers on the back, with more than enough cards to last a lifetime. The game recommends going through all of the questions listed on the top of the card first, but most people will never even make it through the stack once, so the amount of replay value is staggering.

A couple of weeks ago, I introduced my family to one such game: Wits and Wagers. The gameplay is straightforward, but the game comes with moments of surprise and turns of luck that my family really enjoyed. And of course, there is a ton of fun, accessible math to consider while playing. Anyway, let's find out how to play! With simpler rules and family-friendly questions, Wits & Wagers Family Edition is perfect for family game nights, or when the kids want to play with their friends. $ 29.99 In stock.

After the question is read, all players have a chance to write their answer. All questions, and therefore answers, are number based. “How tall is (x)?” or “How many hours was (y)?” (they’re usually far more specific than that, but you get the point). The beauty is that you’re not required to ever know the answer. You could play the game and get every question wrong, but still win. The game uses a Price Right style over/under betting system. Once all players have written and revealed their answers on their color-coded dry erase board, they are placed in ascending order. Idle champions of the forgotten realms wiki. The game provides a value 1 board to act as the lowest possible bid, and from there the other answers are arranged.

Using your meeples, the larger one worth 2 points and the smaller worth 1, you’ll hedge your bets. You can place both of them on the same answer and go for 3 points, or split them up as you see fit. The closest answer without going over is correct, and whichever player guessed correctly (whether they’ve placed their own meeples on it or not) gets 1 point. All other players get their appropriate points if they also placed either of their meeples on the right answer.

The first player (or team) to reach 15 points is declared the winner. It’s as simple as that. The game is a blast to play with young kids, an older crowd, or both at the same time. The Family edition assures that the questions are appropriate for all ages, and the simplified rules and reduced betting system result in a much faster, cleaner game than its predecessor. The meeples are adorable, but otherwise it’s a standard production. The dry erase boards are decent, but the game doesn’t include cloth wipes so have napkins or paper towels nearby. The question and answer cards are tiny, and the text more so, so if you have trouble reading fine print you may want to have someone else nearby to help. Otherwise, Wits and Wagers Family Edition is a terrific game for everyone and is sure to provide plenty of laughs and may even teach you a few useless facts.

Place a Meeple on their guess. No idea. Place a Meeple on any guess and hope to get lucky! With simpler rules and family-friendly questions, Wits & Wagers Family Edition is perfect for family game nights, or when the kids want to play with their friends. I don’t like party games and I don’t like trivia games. I like trivia, just not trivia games.

I can come up with many useful facts, but never the useful facts needed for the question being asked. Anyway, I digress. This game is the family version of the popular party game Wits and Wagers. The only differnece is that the questions are simpler and the game is more family friendly. Here is how it works. A question is asked with the answer being a number. All players write a number on a small cardboard card and then place them in the middle is order.

Everyone has two meeples, a small and a large. Everyone takes turns bidding on which answer they think is right. A big meeple is two points and a small meeples is one point. After all have bid, the answer is read and points are awarded. You continue till one person has a set number of points. Why do I like this? Because I can bluff. If you don’t know, just make something up and figure out who the brainiac in the room is and bid on their card.

It is more than just trivia, it is reading the room and using deduction. The components are nice and sturdy and I very much enjoy to play this game.
